A shared commitment

At BFLPT, we believe that every child deserves to feel that they belong, are valued and have the opportunity to achieve their full potential. Our Inclusion & Belonging Strategy sets out a shared commitment across all of our schools to create welcoming, ambitious and inclusive environments where every learner can thrive.

Our approach is built around a graduated model of support, ensuring children receive the right help at the right time.

High-quality teaching in mainstream classrooms remains the foundation of our provision, supported by early identification, targeted interventions and specialist expertise where needed. For pupils with more complex needs, we work collaboratively with families, external agencies and specialist services to provide enhanced support, including Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) provision and carefully planned reintegration pathways where appropriate.

Everything we do is underpinned by a simple cycle: Assess, Plan, Do and Review. This ensures support is responsive, evidence-informed and regularly evaluated so that every child continues to make progress both academically and personally.

Our strategy is driven by six key priorities: fostering a culture of belonging, identifying needs early, delivering high-quality inclusive teaching, strengthening partnerships with families and communities, investing in professional development, and maintaining strong systems of accountability. Together, these priorities help ensure inclusion is everyone's responsibility and that every school within our Trust continues to develop outstanding practice.

Ambitious Trust wide targets

We have also established ambitious Trust-wide targets to improve attendance, reduce exclusions, raise outcomes for pupils with SEND and disadvantaged learners, and increase successful inclusion within mainstream settings wherever possible. Progress will be monitored through robust governance, data-informed decision making and regular Trust-wide reviews.

Our values of Belonging, Flourishing, Leadership, Partnership and Transformation are at the heart of this strategy. By working together with pupils, families, colleagues and partners, we will continue to build schools where every child is known, supported and inspired to succeed, because when every child belongs, every child can achieve.
